History

The history of the University of Florida dates back to the school’s creation back in 1905. The first varsity baseball team would play the fields seven years later, where they won its first season. The teams’ early years were affected by financial issues and few full-time coaches. A notable change happened when Lance Richbourg, one of Florida’s alumnus and a Major League Baseball outfielder led the Florida Gators to an outstanding 39-21 overall record in 1922, 1923 and 1926.

Stadium

The Florida Gators play their home games at the Florida Ballpark at Alfred A. McKethan Field. The stadium is named after former Florida alumni Alfred A. McKethan, and can be found on the University of Florida’s Gainesville campus. Not only does the stadium carry history, but its colossal size also opens up for 10 000 fans, a press box, locker rooms and coaching staff offices.

The stadium is designed for perfect sports viewing with home plate facing north. This provides shade for the fans, with the sun behind the stadium. The field also features a 360-degree open concourse, allowing fans constant field view. Let’s hope we’ll see people in the stands soon again.
